Twelve years of schooling has passed for our 2016 intake of Vuka Makhi Learners. They have travelled every Saturday for two years to the Master Builders Centre in Westville for lessons in Mathematics, Physical Science, English, Life Orientation and Basic Computers. Having had their last lesson with us on Saturday 21 October, they began their matric examinations on Tuesday 24 October with English paper 1.
We wish these aspirant Construction Professionals of tomorrow well in their examinations and look forward with great anticipation to great final results.
It is envisaged that they will begin their tertiary studies at the beginning of the 2018 academic year.
At this point, we would like to draw to the attention of employers the benefit of supporting the future contributors to the South African economy. To support a student with a bursary impacts positively on your BBBEE scorecard and to absorb such an individual into your organisation and the industry is an even further boost.
The Master Builders Vuka Makhi programme has provided these young people the opportunity to mould their future and to take up their place as the future leaders of industry and South African society.
With a view of the great potential of our young people, we would like to wish all learners much success in their examinations.
Health and Safety Skills Programme
Many young people have, for various reasons not yet planned on what to study after they have completed their schooling. With the ever-increasing prominence being placed on Health and Safety in the workplace, Master Builders Training Academy is delighted to offer a 26-credit skills programme in health and safety, based on the qualification: National Certificate Construction Health and Safety for those who would like to enter into the workplace as a health and safety practitioner. Delegates will be capacitated in:
- Current health and safety legislation and the application thereof in the workplace.
- How to conduct a risk assessment in the workplace.
- How to conduct an investigation into workplace incidents.
- How to respond to, implement and manage emergencies according to an emergency action plan.
- Environmental initiatives
Equipped with this programme, the delegate will become much more marketable in the workplace.
